As a Communications Specialist at The SCAN Foundation, Athan Bezaitis manages outreach efforts, which include media and public relations campaigns.  He also maintains editorial oversight of the Web site and contributes to internal and external publications.

Mr. Bezaitis joins The SCAN Foundation from the USC Davis School of Gerontology, where he served as Director of Communications.  In this capacity, he helped to increase exposure for existing gerontology programs by developing marketing materials and promoting faculty research.  He also conceptualized and executed strategic communications plans for the promotion of several new degree programs in gerontology.  A journalist, Athan has written for the San Francisco Chronicle, Smart Business Magazine, Aging Today, Aging Well Magazine and For the Record Magazine.  He holds master’s degrees in communications and professional writing from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in communications from the University of California at Berkeley.
