On June 11, 2010, The SCAN Foundation hosted a briefing entitled, “Health Care Reform and Long-Term Care: A Policy Forum.” This briefing focused on long-term care provisions included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, P.L. 111-148). The forum provided stakeholders the opportunity to examine the wide-ranging long-term care reforms for seniors and adults with disabilities through a California lens so that the state may be prepared for implementation. Panel members included:
- The Honorable Mariko Yamada, Assemblymember & Chair of the Assembly Committee on Aging & Long Term Care;
- Mr. Herb K. Schultz, Regional Director of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Region IX;
- Dr. Bruce Chernof, President and CEO of The SCAN Foundation;
- Dr. Susan C. Reinhard, Senior Vice President of the AARP Public Policy Institute;
- Mr. Howard Bedlin, Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy at the National Council on Aging;
- Ms. Diane Justice, Senior Program Director at the National Academy for State Health Policy; and
- Ms. June Simmons, President and CEO of Partners in Care Foundation.
