Funding Priority #1: Elevate a comprehensive continuum of care for seniors as a national and state priority.

The current policy and political discussion about the continuum of care for seniors is inadequate to mobilize social action toward improving long-term services and supports (LTSS).  Elected officials, their constituents, advocates, and other opinion leaders must view the need for quality and cost effective LTSS as urgent to create lasting policy reform. The SCAN Foundation seeks to elevate this issue to a high priority at the state and national level.  Therefore, our aim in Funding Priority #1 is to fund projects that will raise public awareness and hasten reform, as well as provide credible information to policy makers, advocates, opinion leaders, and the public.

The SCAN Foundation supports projects that develop strategies to reframe the language around the full continuum of care to increase its exposure to policy makers and the general public.  We also seek projects that will support the development of leaders as champions of LTSS policy reform.  Projects that educate elected officials and their staff about various policy options and motivate advocates, opinion leaders, and the public to make reforming LTSS a priority will receive the strongest consideration.

Projects for Funding Priorities 1 and 2 will be selected either through direct solicitation or through occasional requests for proposals (RFP) based on the Foundation’s needs. Please contact Kali Peterson, kpeterson@thescanfoundation.org
