The SCAN Foundation's Director of Policy Dr. Lisa Shugarman penned an August 9, 2010 blog for the Altarum Institute, a nonprofit health systems research and consulting organization. Titled, "Health Care Reform and Long-Term Care – The Beginning of System Redesign," the piece, featured in the Institute's Health Policy Forum, discusses how the Affordable Care Act establishes a framework for care coordination and a future where connections between medical care and supportive services are strengthened for the betterment of the end users: persons with disabilities and older adults with chronic health conditions and functional impairment.
