Baby Boomers: Here They Come, Growing Older
December 25, 2009 - Reports & Studies
If you want to hang out with baby boomers, go to Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Santa Ana in California; Chicago, Naperville and Joliet in Illinois; Houston and Baytown in Texas; or Phoenix Mesa and Scottsdale in Arizona. Those are the countywide metropolitan areas with the biggest concentrations of the biggest generation in American history, the people born in the years 1946 through 1964, according to a November 10, 2009 story in USA Today. The story discusses a Census report, “Selected Characteristics of Baby Boomers 42 to 60 Years old in 2006,” analyzing 2006 data, and marks the first time the Census Bureau has issued a detailed study of the Boomers since 1996. The story noted that some 74% of the boomers were working in 2006, 29% were college graduates, and 66% were married.
