Why Multisector Plans for Aging Matter
Multisector Plans for Aging (MPAs) offer a structured, cross-sector approach to prioritize older adults in planning, policy, and resource allocation. These plans bring together older adults, government agencies, community organizations, health systems, and private partners to coordinate solutions that help older adults age well in their homes and communities. Aging planning efforts at the local, state, and federal levels need to be actionable, accountable, equitable, and informed by lessons from early adopters, such as California.
Rural older adults face distinct realities that California’s statewide planning must address. To support equitable solutions, we are pleased to share three new policy briefs. These briefs provide legislators and advocates with clear, actionable recommendations to address the needs of rural older adults, a population that is growing rapidly and already straining under workforce shortages, housing insecurity, and health disparities.
