Multisector Plans for Aging

The SCAN Foundation helped launch California’s first-in-the-nation Master Plan for Aging and now we’re using that launchpad to drive action nationwide. Multisector plans at the national, state, and local levels can ensure communities are prepared to meet the needs of a growing aging population.

Why Multisector Plans for Aging Matter

Multisector Plans for Aging (MPAs) offer a structured, cross-sector approach to prioritize older adults in planning, policy, and resource allocation. These plans bring together older adults, government agencies, community organizations, health systems, and private partners to coordinate solutions that help older adults age well in their homes and communities. For a closer look at how California and other states are developing and implementing MPAs, explore our detailed project page.

Focus Areas

Aging planning efforts at the local, state, and federal levels need to be actionable, accountable, equitable, and informed by lessons from early adopters, such as California.
