Cheryl Phillips, MD, AGSF

Cheryl PhillipsCheryl Phillips, M.D, AGSF is the immediate past-president and CEO of the Special Needs Plan Alliance, a national leadership association for special needs and Medicare-Medicaid plans serving vulnerable adults. Currently, she is a senior program consultant for the John A. Hartford Foundation’s Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative. She has extensive experience in health policy, Medicare Advantage, special needs plans, and the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). As a fellowship-trained geriatrician her clinical practice focused on the long-term care continuum. Dr. Phillips is a past president of the American Geriatrics Society, and is also a past president of the American Medical Directors Association, the society for post-acute and longterm care medicine. She continues to serve on multiple technical advisory groups for chronic care, LTC quality, home and community-based services, person-centered measures, and industry. She has provided multiple testimonies to the U.S. Congress, including The Senate Special Committee on Aging and Senate Finance. She served as a primary care health policy fellow under Secretary Tommy Thompson. She is currently appointed to the Veterans Administration Veterans Affairs Geriatrics and Gerontology Advisory Committee (GGAC), as well as the Batelle Partnership for Quality Measurement: Pre-Rulemaking Measure Review Committee for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care.
