Mari Nicholson is Director of Communications for The SCAN Foundation. In this role, she executes the Foundation’s communication strategies and grantmaking. Mari has ample public health and communication experience, developing dynamic products that inform and engage audiences. Previously she served as Senior Communications Officer in the social marketing wing of FHI 360, leading communications for the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR), and supporting communities that implemented Centers for Disease Control and Prevention programs to improve community health. Prior, Mari was a reporter, columnist, and copy editor for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.

Mari completed a Master of Health Science degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and holds a Certificate in Gerontology from the Johns Hopkins Department of Health Policy and Management. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Political Science from UCLA. Mari enjoys music, animals and the outdoors, and currently spends her free time tap dancing.
